(“Life” and “God” in my view can be used interchangeably). I love this analogy. Everything that happens to us, all our seemingly individual lives, are in fact interwoven and interconnected. Sometimes we can see it and sometimes we can’t. From one perspective life can appear like the backside of a tapestry – a seemingly random, tangled, knotted mess. View life this way and it’s not surprising that people can lose faith, give up, feel hopeless. Turn over the tapestry – shift your perspective – and you see the art: rich colours, texture, stunningly crafted patterns. If I look for this beauty I can usually find it. No thread of experience—good or bad—is wasted. When it appears to be that way, I just have to remind myself that I am simply looking at the backside of a tapestry. I am not in control. Just because things look like a mess to me, doesn’t mean they are. Something greater, something beautiful is happening, which although may not be immediately visible to me, will surely later be revealed.
